BURIAL AT SEA SERVICE
SeaEsta Cruises would first like to send our deepest condolences to you and your family for the loss of a loved one. We understand this is a difficult time and would like to make your burial at sea experience personalized and comforting.
Captain Danielle and her crew will work with you to create an appropriate “final voyage” based on your specific needs or wishes. Our burial at sea services ensure your loved one a final resting place at sea with dignity while offering the family an affordable option during a challenging time.
From Glover Wharf public docks, we travel three miles offshore (3 miles past Baker's Isand) for your loved ones’ private, final decent. Our licensed captain will provide a customizable ceremony for up to 45 minutes. Guests may read poems, quotes, stories, or prayers. The ceremony will end with the Captain ringing the marine bell 8 times signifying a sailor's end of shift.
The family will receive a Certificate of Burial at Sea including the exact coordinates of the final resting place. Per the EPA, we do require a biodegradable urn for the ashes to be placed without any plastic included. You may purchase an urn through many vendors online or work with Captain Danielle to purchase an urn. The urn naturally disintegrates with water contact and will spread the ashes in the area. We will require the coordinator to fill out quick paperwork required by the EPA for a burial at sea. SeaEsta Cruises will handle sending the paperwork to the EPA.
Per the USCG, we are limited to 6 guests for the burial at sea service. Guests under 12 years of age are required to wear a life vest at all times. You may bring food and beverages, and take photos or videos. We do not allow GLASS, RED WINE, or SMOKING on board.
Please fill out the SeaEsta Cruises Burial at Sea Form (to the left) to schedule a time that works for you and your family.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to board the boat and review safety protocols before travel.
